Unless you want to create a particular effect, or wear a specific uniform, wear what you feel the most comfortable in. A family portrait looks great if all members of the family are in similar colours or types of clothing. Where possible, avoid bold designs.

It is also a good idea to bring along a change of clothes. This gives you a wider choice when selecting your final set of pictures. You may also want to try accessories, such as hats or gloves and jewellery, to create different images. Dark suits are suitable for gentlemen, and create an impressive, executive style.

Ladies should dress casually, although long flowing dresses have a very attractive effect. Most women look more attractive with their arms covered. Ladies should wear make up as if going out for an evening. Dresses and trousers work well with girls. As with babies, bare feet often work better than long white socks. Long trousers look good on most boys, even little boys.

Babies look best with bare feet, and light textured clothes, although sailor suits work well also. Children tend to get very excited when they know that a special event is taking place, so try not to build up the photographic session too much. It is also not a good idea to bring them on their birthdays, as they may be too excited. With babies, avoid times when they should be sleeping or feeding.
